An extensive extended journey through the Australian Coast was terminated following the tragic passing of an older lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but broke off from the excursion for a pause. The liner left without her and came back later that day after the crew discovered the woman was unaccounted for.

An extensive rescue mission located her remains the following day.

Authorities are examining the incident, together with law enforcement and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company stated that guests and staff on the vessel were told that the rest of the cruise had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and earlier engine troubles".

Via official communication, he added that guests would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the passengers via specially arranged planes".
