Starting Lineup

Dean Henderson Was rarely tested required in the first half but then tested by an opponent's curled attempt. His sliding intervention against an Albanian attacker highlighted sharp reading of the game. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged by Albania’s primary attacker through their forward. Operated in a central role to begin with later drifted to the flank once Saka entered the fray. 7

The defender Pushed into midfield with the ball at his feet, a familiar role in the past. On occasion lacked urgency when carrying play and the experiment was shelved by the interval. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Functioned in a high role down the right and also put in defensive duties. Demonstrated glimpses of brilliance but scuffed an attempt wide. Replaced towards the end by Rogers, his competition, after receiving a caution. Seven

The winger Was presented with England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his effort smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah holding position, it fell to him to offer an outlet out wide but his crosses from the touchline were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. 6

The captain The difference-maker scoring 77th and 78th strikes in an England shirt. The first a trademark opportunist's goal and the second a superb finish with his head having drifted away off his defender. At 32, he’s only getting better with the national team stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. 8/10
