Six Individuals Detained After €12M Armed Raid on Gold Processing Laboratory in France

A group of six individuals carrying military-grade weapons detonated charges to breach the security of a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, causing light wounds to five employees during what is being called the latest high-profile daylight theft to occur in the nation.

The bold operation was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with officers quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items assessed at around 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt due to the explosion, and three of them were transported to hospital for examination, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were at the location when the thieves struck.

The suspects, thought to be seasoned offenders, were arrested shortly after the incident in the neighboring community of the town of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A woman involved who participated in the heist was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who utilized explosives in an attack on a gold refining facility in Lyon were apprehended red-handed,” the nation's interior minister stated online, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Assault rifles, handguns and explosives were also confiscated.

The heist took place as authorities on the same day detained five further people, among them a key figure, in regarding the bold raid on the Louvre museum.

Many investigative personnel have been pursuing four robbers who utilized a lorry with a hydraulic lift and cutting gear to access a gallery on the first floor at the museum on October 19th, fleeing with jewelry valued at approximately 88 million euros.

In another notable incident, burglars recently forced their way into the French capital's Natural History Museum, stealing gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A young Chinese female was taken into custody recently in the city of Barcelona in relation to the burglary, officials confirmed.

This series of robberies has raised concerns in the nation regarding insufficient protection at museums and other institutions housing valuable items.
