Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is unclear and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
